The new counties are in southeastern and northeastern Pennsylvania.

UPMC For Kids, the Children's Health Insurance Program, has expanded to seven more counties in Pennsylvania in the new year.

The program, from Pittsburgh-based UPMC, is now in 64 of the commonwealth's 67 counties with 29,000 children in the program. The new counties are Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Carbon, Columbia, and Monroe between southeastern and northeastern Pennsylvania.

UPMC said UPMC For Kids has the highest number of children and teenagers enrolled in any CHIP program in Pennsylvania.

“UPMC for Kids is excited to expand its ability to offer affordable access to high-quality health care, including plans with some of the lowest premiums in the state,” said John Lovelace, president of government programs for UPMC. “In addition to affordable coverage, our whole-person approach to care also offers ways for kids to stay healthy.”
