Of more than 75,000 job postings in the St. Louis region, nearly a quarter are in the health care and social assistance category, recent data from the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center shows.

Health care jobs continue to dominate job opportunities in the St. Louis region.

There are more than 75,000 job postings in the St. Louis region, as of most recent data from the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center, and nearly a quarter of them are in the health care and social assistance category, reflecting more than 18,000 jobs. The companies with the largest numbers of jobs were SSM Health, Mercy Health and BJC HealthCare.

This lines up with U.S. Department of Labor projections for job growth in the region from 2020 to 2030, which identified home health and personal care aides, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and physical therapists as jobs with some of the highest job growth by 2030.

In Missouri as a whole, the job with the highest number of postings as of Jan. 2024 was registered nurses.
