The clinic is Aptiva Health's 10th location in Kentucky.

Aptiva Health is expanding its Derby City footprint.

The Louisville-based independent medical group officially opened a new mental wellness office at 10100 Linn Station Road on Thursday, according to a news release.

The clinic is led by Jeffery Mercer, with Dr. Stelios Stylianou, Dr. Hannah Richardson, and Maryl Smith, according to the release. The office will provide psychology, psychiatry, neuropsychology and other mental health services in-person and via telehealth.

The clinic is Aptiva’s 10th location in Kentucky. It’s not immediately clear how much it cost to build the new clinic or how many total people it will employ. This story could be updated.

In addition to mental health services, Aptiva operates clinics that offer urgent care, orthopedic surgery, joint replacement, sports medicine, rehabilitation and physical therapy services.

The new location comes less than six months after the company moved into a new 10,500-square-foot headquarters at 12300 Plantside Drive.

Aptiva bought that building, which previously housed Splash Analytics, for $1.6 million in August. The company doled out about an additional $200,000 for renovations.

The new headquarters has room for about 60 employees. As of November, Aptiva employed 125 people, almost 40 of whom are administrative staff.

At the time, CEO Eric Lowe told Business First that Aptiva expects to open two to three new clinics in the next year and enter 10 new cities over the next five years.

“We have a lot of growth plans, but to be able to grow, you have to make sure that all our back-end services  — all our billing, all out credentialing, all our contracting, all that stuff — is centralized. It just makes it a lot easier,” Lowe said in November.
